There’s something about an early fall morning in Louisville that I’ll never get tired of. The light is soft, the air feels a little different, and everything seems to slow down just enough to take it all in. Natalie and Tyler’s engagement session at Saint James Court was the perfect example of why this time of year is one of my favorites to photograph.
These two were so sweet, and we had the loveliest morning exploring one of Louisville’s most charming spots. From the beautiful Victorian architecture to the quiet streets and soft morning light, the whole session felt like something straight out of a movie.
A Little New York Rom-Com Magic in Louisville
One of my favorite things about this session was hearing why Natalie and Tyler chose Saint James Court. They had seen my work at this location before and fell in love with the look and feel of it.
They told me it reminded them of those romantic comedies set in New York City, and honestly, I completely understood what they meant.
With its historic Victorian homes, intricate architectural details, and tree-lined streets, Saint James Court has a charm that feels almost cinematic. You don't have to travel to New York to get that classic, romantic city feeling. Sometimes, it's right here in Louisville.
The architecture is always a favorite for a reason. It adds so much character to photographs without taking away from the people in them, creating a backdrop that feels timeless, romantic, and full of personality.
An Early Fall Morning at Saint James Court
The soft morning light made everything feel even more special. I love photographing couples in light like this because it creates such a natural, romantic atmosphere without needing to do too much.
We wandered through the neighborhood, found beautiful little corners to photograph in, and let the morning unfold naturally.
Natalie and Tyler made the whole experience so easy. They were genuinely sweet to work with, and sessions like this are a reminder that engagement photos don't have to feel like a big production. Sometimes, the best photographs come from simply spending time together, enjoying the setting, and letting yourselves be in the moment. And, of course, no Saint James Court session would be complete without meeting one of its furry residents.
If you know this Louisville neighborhood, you probably know it's famous for its cats that roam the area. We got to meet a furry friend along the way, which was such a fun little addition to the morning.
Counting Down to Their Summer Wedding
Natalie and Tyler are one of my 2027 wedding couples, and knowing I'll get to photograph their wedding next summer makes this session even sweeter. I love getting to spend time with my couples before the wedding day. It's a chance for us to connect, get comfortable together, and create photographs that feel like them before the excitement of the wedding arrives.
By the time their wedding day rolls around, we've already shared a little piece of this season of their lives. And I get to go into their wedding knowing them a bit better, which makes documenting all the meaningful moments that much more special.
Natalie and Tyler, thank you for spending your morning with me and trusting me to capture this season of your relationship. I'm so glad Saint James Court was the spot for your engagement session, and I can't wait to celebrate with you both next summer!
