HI! I'M JOIA

THE CREATIVE BEHIND JOIA LYN PHOTO

A Louisville, Kentucky native with a heart split between city energy and quiet greenery. I’m drawn to warm light, soulful moments, and the kind of love that shows up effortlessly. Wedding photography became home for me because no two celebrations are ever the same — yet the joy, emotion, and genuine connection that fill these days are always constant.

When I’m photographing a couple, I feel joy. Real, contagious joy. There’s something about seeing two people fully in love — laughing, tearing up, holding each other — that has a way of softening me every single time. My style leans warm and soulful, documentary with a hint of gentle direction. True-to-life, but elevated in the way memories feel in your heart.

What makes my approach different is the space I give. Your wedding isn’t a production — it’s your moment. I’m there to capture the day as it unfolds authentically, not to recreate Pinterest poses or force anything that doesn’t feel like you. I read the room, anticipate moments, and let you breathe. Dance breaks, quiet pauses, stolen glances — I’m here for all of it, documenting it with intention. I photograph digitally and on film, slowing down when it matters most.

Above anything, I want your photos to feel like stepping back into the best day of your life — the warmth, the emotion, the movement, the “wow, what a day” feeling you never want to forget.

THE HEART BEHIND MY WORK

MY INSPIRATIONS

My work is inspired by old romantic films, soft jazz, warm light, and the way shadows dance across a room. I’m forever drawn to lush greens, natural movement, and the elegance of garments as they fall and flow. Vintage architecture — especially anything Victorian — catches my eye every time.

Creatively, I feel most like myself in quiet gardens, golden-hour coastlines, and art museums filled with stories.

THINGS I LOVE

I’m happiest with a good matcha or blondie in hand, a fresh bouquet on my table, and a playlist that fits the mood. My people — my boyfriend, Jomar, and my family — are the heart behind everything I do.

I ground myself through prayer, Friday yoga dates, and slow Sundays with the ones I love. I secretly adore sudoku puzzles, weekend trips, visiting new coffee shops, and bingeing early 2000s shows (Desperate Housewives has me in a chokehold right now).

WHERE I’M FROM

Kentucky is home — familiar, comforting, and full of hidden gems I’m still discovering. But my heart also lives in the Carolinas, where my love for photography blossomed and where the scenery and culture shaped the way I see the world.

Moving forward, I’m excited for my work (and my heart) to take me anywhere love leads — especially coastal weddings, new cities, and travel that inspires me to see every story a little differently.

A MESSAGE FROM THE CREATIVE

Being invited into someone’s wedding day is something I hold close to my heart. It’s more than creating beautiful images — it’s about honoring the truth of what the day felt like. The anticipation. The softness. The nerves that settle the moment you see each other. The joy you can’t hide. I’m there for all of it.

With a warm, documentary approach and a love for the real, tender moments, I capture your day as it naturally unfolds — the loud parts, the quiet in-betweens, the moments you didn’t even realize were happening. My hope is that your photos become more than memories… that they feel like a doorway back into the emotion of it all.

The glances across the room. The gentle squeeze of a hand. The laughter that leaves your cheeks sore. The stillness before the ceremony. The dance floor chaos. The good, honest, beautifully imperfect magic of your day.

These aren’t just photos — they’re the beginning of the story you’ll tell for the rest of your life.
