Some wedding days just stick with you, and Jacob and Tory’s wedding at Hermitage Farm was definitely one of them.
It was rainy, intimate, incredibly joyful, and filled with so much love. The weather may not have been what anyone expected, but it never once stopped the celebration. If anything, the rain became part of what made their day so memorable.
From the sweetest moments with their families to an equestrian experience that was so personal to Tory, and one of the best receptions I’ve photographed, this was a wedding I genuinely wouldn’t mind reliving.
A Intimate Wedding With So Much Love
One of my favorite things about Jacob and Tory’s wedding was how intimate it was.
With a smaller guest list, you could really see how close everyone was to the couple. Their family and friends were incredibly sweet, and there was this beautiful sense of everyone coming together to celebrate them.
I loved watching relationships form throughout the day, too. People who may not have known each other before were talking, laughing, hugging, and celebrating together by the end of the night. It felt like two families and two groups of friends were becoming one.
And honestly, you could just feel how loved Jacob and Tory are. Those are the kinds of moments I love looking back on in a wedding gallery—the little interactions and genuine connections that tell you so much about the people surrounding a couple.
Hermitage Farm Was So Perfect for Tory
Something I especially loved about this Louisville wedding was how personal the venue was to Tory.
Tory is a horse lover and an equestrian, so getting married at Hermitage Farm felt incredibly fitting. It wasn't just a beautiful Kentucky wedding venue, it was a place that connected to something she genuinely loves.
And they made the experience even more unique by incorporating a horse show into their wedding day! How cool is that?!
I've photographed a lot of weddings, but this was definitely a first for me! And I loved it.
I think the best wedding days are the ones where you can actually see the couple in the details and experiences they've chosen.
It doesn't have to be what everyone else is doing. It just needs to mean something to you.
For Tory, horses are such a big part of her life, so having that incorporated into their wedding day made the entire experience feel even more like them. And Hermitage Farm was the perfect place to bring it all together.
The Rain Didn't Stop the Wedding
Okay, let's talk about the rain. Because yes, it rained. But did it stop the wedding? Absolutely not.
We worked around it, embraced the moments when the rain let up, and kept the day moving. And honestly, I think there was something so beautiful about the atmosphere it created.
There's a softness that comes with a rainy wedding day that I really love. The cloudy skies, the movement, the cozy feeling, it can make everything feel a little more intimate.
But more than anything, I loved that Jacob and Tory didn't let the weather take away from their day.
They were there to get married, celebrate with their people, and have the best time.
And that's exactly what they did.
Top Shelf Band Understood the Assignment
Then came the reception, and WOW!
I absolutely loved the band at this wedding. Top Shelf Band brought such an amazing energy to the room, and the reception was one of those where you could genuinely feel how much fun everyone was having.
The dance floor stayed full, everyone was completely in the moment, and the energy just kept getting better throughout the night.
As a photographer, these are some of my favorite moments to capture. When everyone stops worrying about the camera and just lets loose - dancing, laughing, hugging, and celebrating.
Those photographs end up being some of my favorites because they don't just show you what the reception looked like. They remind you how it felt! And this reception felt GOOD.
One of Those Weddings I'd Happily Relive!
When I look back at Jacob and Tory's wedding, it's hard to pick just one thing that made it so special. It was the rain. It was Tory's love for horses and the fact that such an important part of her life could be incorporated into the day.
It was the horse show at Hermitage Farm. It was their sweet, close-knit group of family and friends. It was watching new relationships form throughout the day. It was the packed dance floor and the energy from Top Shelf Band.
It was all of it, and I think that's what makes a wedding memorable. Not whether every single thing went perfectly, but whether the day felt like you.
Jacob and Tory's wedding felt completely like them, and I'm so grateful I got to document it. This is definitely one of those weddings I wouldn't mind reliving. 🤍
